Dehradun is one of the best places to visit in northern-India, offering a mix of pleasant weather, hill resorts and pilgrimage destinations. Nestled in the mountain ranges of Himalaya, Dehradun was declared as the Provisional Capital of newly created Uttarakhand State in the year 1999. Tepkeshwar Temple - The temple dedicated to Lord Shiva is situated 5.5 km from the city, on the banks of river rivulet. The site is famous for the sacred Shivling on which water originating from a rock falls throughout the year.
Kalanga Monument- Located on a hill, 1000 feet over the banks of river Rispana, this Monument serves as a reminder for the 180 year old historic battle between the British and the Gorkhas, fought for the control of Dehradun.
Laxaman Siddh- This famous temple is situated 12 kms. away from Dehradun , on the way to Rishikesh. A temple has been constructed on the site where a sage is believed to have underwnet penance. Easy accessibility makes this a popular tourist place.
Malsi Deer Park- It is located at a distance of 10 kms. from Dehradun, and it's a mini-zoological park developed as a tourist spot at the foot of teh Shivalik range. A perfect place for Picnic trips, the park is surrounded by natural settings and also has a children's park and restaurants.
Sahastradhara - The cold sulphur springs of Sahastradhara are situated at a distance of 11 kms. from the city of Dehradun. The Baldi river springs and the caves attracts hundreds of visitors who come to marvel not only at the scenic beauty but also for the water's medicinal properties The water falling from a height of 9 meters and due to the inherent mineral deposits present in the water is believed to possess healing properties and is said to cure skin infections as well as rejuvenate the body.
