Nepal Tour Packages
Nepal has a host of tourists destinations in its kitty, the sight of which would not mere enchant you but also mesmerize you completely. One such captivating city of Nepal is Pokhara. It is the third largest city of Nepal after Kathmandu and Biratnagar and the second most-visited spot in Nepal after Kathmandu. Pokhara is known for its lovely lakes Phewa, Begnas and Rupa, which have their source in the glacial Annapurna Range of the Himalayas. A place of remarkable natural beauty, Pokhara also offers splendid views of the fishtailed summit of Machhapuchhre which rises from behind the Phewa Lake. It is home to thick forests, gushing rivers and emerald lakes. Pokhara lies 200km west of Kathmandu and is connected by air to the capital. It is quite a modern city with a handful of tourists attractions in the town itself.
Unlike Kathmandu which is famous for its old temples, heritage monuments and courtyards, Pokhara is the only city in Nepal which is famous for its waterfalls. Pehwa Lake, the second largest lake in the country, is the focal point of Pokhara and extremely popular with visitors. You can go sailing on the lake, row a hired boat across the water, fish or visit the Bahari Temple, built on an island in the middle of the lake. The temple is unarguably the most revered shrine and one of the major landmark in Pokhara. The Seti Gandki river flows right through the city and is completely underground at places. The river and its tributaries with their powerful flow have created spectacular gorges in and around the whole city which are worth watching. Apart from these the other places you can visit while you are in Pokhara are Davis falls, Mahendra Cave, World peace Stupa and many more. Davis fall is quite a popular tourist attraction in Pokhara. It lies 2 km from central Pokhara City .The water fall directly goes into a deep and narrow canal with no ends. It is believed that this deadly waterfall took the life of a tourist named Davis, who fell down into the canal and was never found, and hence the name Davis waterfall, named in his memory by the people of Pokhara. Mahendra Cave is another most demanding tourist attraction center in Pokhara. It is a natural tunnel which is provided with artificial lighting systems. The cave is rich for its rock types and different stones that glitters when a beam of light is striked in it. Mahendra Cave resides in Batulechaur. Its a 10 minute drive from chipledhunga the central market place of the Pokhara city.
The city offers a combination of nature and culture and is a hot favorite destination for the trekkers around the world. It is most commonly known as starting and ending point for Annapurna Circuit and Jomsom treks. The trekking Paths lead to the top from where one can enjoy spectacular views of the Annapurna range and the city itself. The city also offers a number of short treks for those who cannot manage long and challenging ones. The most popular among them is the one to Sarangkot. In the top of the hill of Sarangkot, there is a beautiful Buddhist stupa/monastery, which also attracts many tourists.
Most interesting is the old centre in the north of the city - purano bazar where still many old shops and warehouses in the Newari style can be found. This market is an apt place where you can shop for your loved ones and for yourself.
With all its varied features, natural beauty and adventures the city has become one of the most popular place amongst the travelers coming to Nepal and for Nepalese, Pokhara has become the most favorite place to live in the country.
